The Wathba Stallions Cup hosted by the Caprilli Racecourse in Italy

“The Festival of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Races arrives at a new station in Italy, as the Caprilli Livorno racecourse hosts two races for the Wathba Stallions Cup, dedicated to purebred Arabian horses, on September 3, 2023, under the sponsorship of the fifteenth edition of the global festival.

The Wathba Stallions Cup races series is organized with the support and encouragement of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Minister of Presidential Court and Chairman for the Emirates Arabian Horse Society, with the aim of developing the horse racing industry worldwide, supporting the preservation of purebred Arab horse breeds, and encouraging breeders to care for them across continents.

The nominations for the first Wathba Stallions Cup include “Elidor” led by SR Saiu, and “Elda” led by rider M. Monteriso, competing for the Terrino Cup for three-year-old horses only, over a distance of 1500 meters, with a prize of 5,500 euros. They are challenged by “Embajador Go” led by R. Iacopini, “Ethan Edo” led by A. Fiori, “Evanderbonorva” led by A. El Rherras, and “Entudelottas” led by M. Kolmarkaj.

The second Wathba Stallions Cup, competing for the Livorno Prize, will attract six horses aged four and over, over a distance of 1500 meters, competing for a prize of 5,500 euros. The competition will be fierce, with “Diamantditrexenta” a previous winner of the Wathba Stallions Cup, led by S.R. Saiu, and its rival “Dumas” led by M. Monteriso. Also competing for the title are “Dafne by Nina” led by M. Colombi, “Destino Ribelle” led by R. Iacopini, “Mbastir de Pine” led by M. Kolmarkaj, and “Dalia by Oneglia” led by A. Fiori.

The festival includes races such as the Jewel of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s Crown, the Zayed Cup, the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Cup, the Wathba Stallions Cup, and the International Meeting for Purebred Arabian Horse Racing.

The festival’s inaugural race started strongly on January 11 of this year. With the addition of new races in the 2023 season, the festival includes a total of 152 local and international races around the world, covering various categories such as first, second, and third-class races.
