Becky Smith, who represented Great Britain and finished second in the final of the 1600m HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship in November is in the running to receive the Rider/Groom Award as part of the 2016 Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Awards which take place on Monday, 22nd February in London.

The category, which recognises talent for horsemanship, consistency and reliability in and out of the saddle and/or outstanding achievement in an equine or personal capacity will see 10 hopefuls, including 26-year-old Smith who is attached to Micky Hammond’s Yorkshire stable, compete for the coveted prize.

From 220-plus nominations only ten finalists in each of the six categories have been shortlisted, with the second stage of judging now underway which will result in three finalists per category.

Ms Lara Sawaya commented, “On behalf of HH Sheikh Mansoor and HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak I would like to congratulate Becky on her nomination and wish her all the best in the final stages of judging. She produced an outstanding ride in the finals of the Ladies World Championship and we are extremely proud of her recent achievements in racing.
