The International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) has named AL TAIR the highest rated Arabian racehorse of 2014 with a rating of 124.
UK-bred Al Tair (by Amer) is owned by HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani and is trained by Alban De Mieulle.
Although 7-year old AL TAIR did not win the € 1 million Qatar Arabian World Cup in Paris, he was adjudged the best horse at the weights in the race, says Graham Walcroft, chairman of IFAHR’s Pattern Race and Handicapper Committee.
The winner of the Qatar Arabian World Cup DJAINKA DES FORGES (rated 122) was without doubt the best 4yo and upwards filly and mare of 2014. The 5-year old mare also won the Group 1 Hatta International in Newbury and finished 2nd in the Dubai Kahayla Classic on Dubai World Cup Day.
DJAINKA DES FORGES is born in France, and owned by Sh. Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani in Qatar. She is trained by Julian Smart.
In total 65 horses achieved a rating of 110 or more in 2014 as opposed to 64 in 2013.
The top rated 3 year old for 2014 was the unbeaten AL MOUWAFFAK with a rating of 116 achieved in the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains at St Cloud in Paris.
The Azadi colt is owned by Mr Faiz al Elweet and is in training with Thomas Fourcy in France.
17 three year old horses were allocated a rating of 105 or more in 2014 as opposed to 21 in 2013.
For the first time this year the Supervisory Committee have identified the race or races where the horse concerned is considered to have achieved its highest rating performance.
Note: The Committee only consider horses which have run in IFAHR Pattern Races (Group PA and Listed PA during the period under review).
