Ten 4WD cars will be on offer for the top five who finish in next week’s 100-km Sheikha Fatma Bint Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ladies Endurance Cup on Friday, February 27 and the 100-km Sheikh Mohammed bin Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup For local Stables on February 28 to be held at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba.

The event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs as part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival with the support of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the UAE, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Speaking to the media at the Kempinski Hotel in St. Moritz before the third leg of the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship race, Ms Lara Sawaya, Executive Director  of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairman of the Int’l Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and Chairman of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committee in the Int’l Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities ( IFAHR) said, “The top five finishers in each race will drive away a brand new 4WD, bringing the total to 10 cars.”

The news conference was also attended by Abdul Rahim Al Awadhi, Assistant Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Suleiman Al Mazrouei, UAE ambassador to Belgium, Saqr Nasser Al Raisi, UAE Ambassador to Italy, Adnan Sultan, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Ms Lara Sawaya, Ahmed Al Fahim from TDIC, Marcos Houser from White Turf, Elizabeth, representing the racecourse and Urs Aeschbacher, chairman of the Swiss Arabian Horses Society and the lady jockeys who were to race in the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship race.  

“During the two endurance events on February 27 and 28, we will also have the ‘Fatma Wathba Land’ and ‘Mohammed Wathba Land’ respectively which will keep young children and families occupied and entertained on the sidelines of the rides,” Ms Sawaya said.

“The 120km HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Endurance Cup will be run on November 7, 2015 to coincide with the finals of the Festival (One World 6 Continents, Abu Dhabi The Capital).

“It’s the second biggest ladies endurance ride under the supervision of the FEI after Italy’s race and it’s open for the cream of the local, Gulf, Arab and foreign ladies from around the globe,” she added.

“The Euro 1.2m Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup Group-1, the world’s richest Purebred Arabian flat race is also expected to attract a highly competitive field,” she said.

“Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre hosts on April 3, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Darley Awards with the number of categories increased to 13 instead of 11 and will be telecast live via Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, Yas and also streamed live on web TV,” she said.

HE Suleiman Al Mazrouei thanked HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for their great support to the equine disciplines in general and women sports in particular.

Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Awadhi added: “We are proud with the far-sightedness of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed, the driving force of the world’s most successful and rewarding Festival in the world.”

Saqr Al Raisi reiterated that the UAE sport has made a very good progress thanks to the directives, follow up and support of the wise leadership of the UAE.
