Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club and Lara Sawaya, Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and Head of Ladies Racing in IFAHR jointly addressed a press conference at the Eastern mangroves Hotel on Tuesday afternoon announcing details of the event and other activities.
“This is the last ride of the 2012-13 season here at Al Wathba and this ride is being held under the instruction and directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Presidential Affairs and HH Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor,” Al Nuaimi said.
“The ride starts at 5.15 pm. The winner will be awarded a 4WD car while the prize fund of Dh 450,000 will be distributed among all riders who complete the 120-km event. The ride will be run in four stages of 40km, 40km, 24km and 16kms,” he said.
Ms Sawaya announced that the top three riders will be taken on a trip to Toulouse, France where the races of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival will be held May 4-6, 2013.
“These invited guests will watch the racing action and also see first hand all the preparations that are being undertaken for the World Arabian Racing Conference which will be held for the four year and in the month of June, 2013,” Ms Sawaya said.
“But more importantly it will be a red-letter day for the Festival tomorrow (Wednesday, April 24) as we will be launching the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Year Book 2012 during the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2013 to be held at ADNEC,” she said.
“The Book, which is the second edition of the first-ever book on any racing series, deals with Purebred Arabian racing and the range of activities undertaken by the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival,” Ms Sawaya said.
“This year we intend to ensure the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Year Book will reach many parts of the world and we will be announcing a partnership with a leading publishing house in this regard,” she said.
“The Festival has put up a unique stall at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and visitors will get a chance to get acquainted with the activities of the Festival which promotes activities under directions of HH Sheikh Mansoor and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood,” Ms Sawaya said.
