Valiant Boy SBFAR, a 4-year-old bred by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan was a double winner while Dutch connections dominated in Sunday’s HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s 26th Annual Darley Awards and the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards respectively.

Valiant Boy SBFAR, with four wins and two second-place finishes in his seven starts won the Best 4-year-old Colt/Gelding in the US award and also won the Horse of The Year Award to dominate the Darley Awards.

In the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards, three from The Netherlands walked away with the beautiful trophies with Germany’s Susanna Santesson earning the Lifetime Award for her services to ladies flat racing and the German Jockey Club.

Karin Van Der Bos from The Netherlands won the Best Owner while her countrywomen Jadey Pietrawiscz (Best Jockey) and Diana Dorenburg (Best Trainer) made it a Dutch dominance in the HH Sheikha Fatima Awards.

At a glittering ceremony hosted by well-known racing commentator Derek Thompson at the JW Marriot Hotel in Houston, Texas the Purebred Arabian fraternity came together to celebrate outstanding performances by horses and connections.

Abdul Rahman Al Jaber, Second Secretary at the UAE Embassy in the US, Dr. Wadouda Badran, Consultant to the Supreme Council of Arab Women’s Organisation, Ms Lara Sawaya, Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and head of IFAHR ladies racing, Sami Al Boenain, IFAHR Chairman, Jasim Abdul Mohsin Al Dossary, Assistant Under Secretary of Sports at the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, Ali Moosa Al Khamiri of Dubai Equestrian Club, Dr. Kinsman Wright of Arabian Racing Cup, Richard Lancaster of Shadwell Stud Director, Stephen Bowey of Invest AD, Mansour Al Mansouri of the UAE Falconry Club, Margareet de Ruiter from the Dutch Arabian Racing, of the Genny Haynes-Director of ARO-UK, Michelle Morgan, Deborah Mihaloff, Denise Gault (Chief Steward) and Diana Waldron – all from the ARC were among those who gave away the attractive trophies to the winners of the two award series.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Racing Authority, IFAHR and Emirates Arabian Horse Society, supported by General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and Fegentri with Emirates airlines as the official carrier and sponsored by Invest AD, Arabtec Holding PJSC, SAS Investment, Al Rashid Investment, Areej Al Ameerat, Al Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, the UAE’s General Women’s Union, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2013, Dr. Nader Saab Switzerland, Wathba Stud Farm and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
