The Darley Awards, which were founded in 1987 by the Arabian Racing Cup, received a huge boost last year when it its 25th anniversary, the event took on the new name-The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival Darley Awards.
This annual awards function recognizes the most outstanding racehorses, jockeys, owners, trainers and breeders of the Purebred Arabian fraternity in the US.
The Darley Committee selects the nominees for Darley Awards and a Voting Academy decides the winners. The Voting Academy is comprised of knowledgeable individuals within the racing community, and the Champions for the year 2012 will be announced at the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival Darley Awards Dinner on Sunday.
While marking the significant milestone of 25 years in 2012 the annual Darley Awards was accompanied last year by the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards –to honour women involved in Purebred Arabian racing around the globe.
The HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards on Sunday will honor women who have carved out a name for themselves as owner, breeder, trainer and jockey in international Arabian racing, and the mare that has shown extraordinary achievement in the year 2012. The sixth award in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards is for the ‘Woman of The Year’.
The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Racing Authority, IFAHR and Emirates Arabian Horse Society, supported by General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and Fegentri with Emirates airlines as the official carrier and sponsored by Invest AD, Arabtec Holding PJSC, SAS Investment, Al Rashid Investment, Areej Al Ameerat, Al Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, the UAE’s General Women’s Union, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Acad emy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2013, Dr. Nader Saab Switzerland, Wathba Stud Farm and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
