Abu Dhabi: Dutch amateur jockey Jadey Pietrasiewicz, who won the Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (Listed) Cup last month, returns to the Duindigt racecourse on Alligator Kossack in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup race.
Pietrasiewicz finished third on Phraseur Kossack in the HH Shaikha Fatma Bint Mubarak Ladies Fegentri Cup and in the next race on Poulain Kossack won the Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (Listed) Cup on June 19. He will be looking to wrap up another win in a UAE-supported race today.
The Wathba Stud Farm Cup race is part of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage’s (ADACH) Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Racing Festival and so far four races have already been staged in the Netherlands.
Tough challenge
The four-year-old Alligator Kossack is expected to face a tough challenge from Mirabella del Sol under Stephen Hellyn and Sakina de Faust under Jan Palik.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director of Communications of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) said: “After the Wathba Stud Farm Cup debut in Pleasanton, California we are back for the continuation of the series in the Netherlands.
“This is the fifth race to be held and the response from the owners and trainers has been encouraging for Purebred Arabian horse racing.”
The Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup races are co-ordinated by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and IFAHR and are staged with support from Invest AD, Areej Al Ameerat, La Sirene, the UAE’s General Women’s Union, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2011, Wathba Stud Farm and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
