Polish stop for Wathba farm cup

Abu Dhabi: The Wathba Stud Farm Cup race series, which is part of the Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival, visits Poland for a Purebred Arabian race today. The race will be run over 1,800 metres and is open for three-year-old Purebred Arabian horses.Seven horses have entered today’s race, in the third year of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup series of races, an initiative of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs, according to a press release. Harfistka, Boliwijka, Gotta, Piawella, Cejlonka, Modelina and Otava are the seven locally-bred and owned horses that will give small and private owners a chance to take part in the series.

Lara Sawaya, Director of the Festival, said, “We are treating even the Wathba Stud Farm Cup with great attention for this is the grass-roots level and will play a huge role in enabling Arabian racing to grow in Poland.”

Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director of Communications, Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, said, “We have already seen the success of the Shaikh Zayed Cup races in Poland and now the Wathba Stud Farm Cup will be a perfect complement to that.”
