SHEIKH Mohammed Bin Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the final race of the Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Racing Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup series and distributed the prizes on Sunday, at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club (ADEC).
It was the feature race when racing returned to the Capital on Sunday evening with a six-race card.
After Shadiyda, owned by Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, trained by Eric Lemartinel and ridden by Gerald Avranche, won the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Prestige) race, the Sheikh Mohammed distributed the trophies to the winners.
It was a double for the trainer and jockey who had combined 30 minutes earlier to land the only Purebred Arabian handicap (Al Wathba Handicap race) on the card, over 1600m when Mooser finished first ahead of AF Mursid.
Another French duo of trainer Philippe Barbe and jockey David Badel also secured a double when the opener resulted in a win for Burkan Al Asayl run over 1,300 metres and Noor Einy proved far too good for her rivals in a similar race confined to fillies in the second race.
On the sidelines of Sunday’s race, the Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Racing Festival, held prize distribution ceremony attended by trainers and jockeys invited from Europe. Sheikh Mohammed presented the awards to Al Khalidiah Stables manager Sheikh Mutlaq Bin Mushrif Al Qahtani and trainer Jean-Francois Bernard for their horse, Muqatil Al Khalidiah winning the Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup’s three-race series held in France, Holland and Poland.
