Abu Dhabi: The Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Racing Festival’s final race of the Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup series will be part of the Abu Dhabi flat racing season’s opening meeting at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club racecourse on Sunday.
Some of the top trainers and jockeys who trained and rode horses owned by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, will be attending an awards ceremony to mark the end of the 2010 series.
Lara Sawaya, Director of the Mansour Festival said, “We have invited representatives of the Al Khalidiah Stables based in Saudi Arabia after their horse, Muqatil Al Khalidiah won the Festival’s three-race series held in France , Holland and Poland . Muqatil Al Khalidiah secured ten points with two wins in the three races series.”
“The Wathba Cup series for the 2010-2011 season, which began in Switzerland will continue with the first of the 15 races being held on Sunday,” Sawaya said.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director of Communications of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), said, “The Festival’s Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup series makes its final stop in the UAE. We are extremely delighted with the success of the series, which has been held for the second year running with extremely encouraging results all over the globe.”
Musalam Al Ameri, Racing Manager to Shaikh Mansour said: “While the Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup series has been a prestigious race series held all over the world, the owners and trainers of the small stables are looking forward to the Wathba Cup series.”
