The National: Abu Dhabi conference on Arabians

Experts on Arabian horse racing will focus on the culture and history of the sport, breeding, training and the future of Arabian racing during the first World Arabian Horse Racing Conference in Abu Dhabi this autumn.

UAE racing officials this week met international Arabian racing authorities in Amsterdam to finalise plans for the conference, which is scheduled for September 23-25.

“We expect between 60 to 100 experts from various fields to take part in the panel discussions.

 

“This will possibly be the richest assembly of experts who have Arabian racing in their heart,” said Mats Genberg, the secretary of the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities.

The three-day conference will be held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition in co-ordination with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Officials of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and Emirates Arabian Horse Society were involved in the event’s planning.

 

“The UAE leaders have always supported Arabian horse racing and this conference initiated by Sheikh Mansour will help in collecting a lot of ideas on promoting Arabian horse racing and also help in finding solutions,” said Mohammed Essa Al Adhab, the vice chairman of the international authority.

Elsewhere, Aidan O’Brien is responsible for five of the 13 possibles for the Jebel Ali Stables & Racecourse Anglesey Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday.

The Ballydoyle trainer’s quintet consists of Railway Stakes runner-up Samuel Morse, Emperor Hadrian, High Ruler, Queen Of Spain and Naas winner Rudolf Valentino.

Godolphin have two in the list – the unraced pair Al Aasifh from Saeed bin Suroor’s yard, and Deep South, housed by Mahmood Al Zarooni.
