Objectives: The Festival aims to:
Introducing to the peoples of the world, and those interested in the importance of Arabian horses, the rich depths of UAE heritage.
Preserve the most important pure-bred Arabian horses in the Arabian Peninsula.
Promote Arabian horses throughout the world.
Encourage UAE citizens to breed and buy pure-bred Arabian horses, specifically the "UAE breed" which has a large fan-base after enjoying impressive victories against imported horses.
- Continue the considerable efforts made by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in the context of the preservation of heritage and traditions. It specifically aims to preserve heritage sports, especially equestrian sport.
The first session of the Festival - Zayed the First Cup:
The Festival was organized in 2009 in Europe to introduce the European public to pure-bred Arabian horses. It included a series of races for the Sheikh Zayed the First Cup, in conjunction with other activities to mark the centenary of the death of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa (Zayed I). The races were specifically for three year old horses. Older horses competed with each other in preparation for larger and more prestigious races in the future. For the first time during the Festival four races were held for the best Arabian horses. The Festival has been a great success and has been met with positive and widespread media interest.
Second session of the Festival (this season) - Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup:
The second season of the Festival is of great importance, as it has made a name for itself and is held in high regard by the people of the UAE and the world alike. The races are for the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup. In recognition of the importance of this event, a number of private companies and government agencies have been involved in sponsoring the Festival. The current season is divided into two parts:
The Local part: it includes ten races in the United Arab Emirates for the Wathba Stud Farm Cup. It is only open to Arabic horses (UAE breed). It was organized by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club. The total prize money for these ten racing awards is 350,000 UAE dirhams. Abd Al Bassit Al Yacoub ,Bakhit Al Ketbi and Khaked Nabodah won the title of Best Owner. Bakhit Al Ketbi won the Best Trainer title. Wayne Smith won the title of Best Rider. Khaled Naboodah won the title of Best Local Horse Trainer.

Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage:
The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is the institution in charge of conserving and promoting the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi. Established in October 2005 as an authority of the Government of Abu Dhabi, it is administered by a board of directors and chaired by HH Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan.
ADACH organises the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan's Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival. This event is held as part of its strategy to develop the culture and heritage of Abu Dhabi
. It aims to harness the pride of the UAE people, strengthen intercultural dialogue and increase an appreciation for different cultures.
Wathba Stud Farm
Wathba Stud Farm is based in Normandy, France. It is owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. He is also the Chairman of the Emirates Arabian Horse Association. The Farm boasts ownership of the best pure-bred horses and its fame has ensured that it has set an example for many European horse owners and breeders. Sheikh Mansour was behind the idea of establishing the Farm and he chose the best stallions (Munjiz, Sir d’Albret and Mahabb). His Highness Sheikh Mansoor was the best owner and breeder of purebred Arabian horses in France. The success of the Farm can be accredited to his Highness thought, insight and the excellent personal choices he has made regarding the quality of his racing horses.
Abu Dhabi Sports Council
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council serves as the prime legislative body for all sports clubs and organisations in Abu Dhabi. It leads, organises and supports all sporting activity in Abu Dhabi and serves the community at large, as well as promoting the development of sports within the UAE. It was established in 2006, and chaired by HH Sheikh Hazaa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. HH Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is its Deputy Chairman. It co-operates with and supports other agencies and organisations that share its desire to promote sport, and provides all the elements necessary to support community clubs.
